SKHN is working close together with the Dutch Open Air Museum in the Netherlands to promote restauration and building of haybarracks in the typical region bound style. Mrs. Suzan Jurgens, historical geographian and specialized on the haybarrack, has the chair of a scientific committee and leads an advisory committee serving people who ask for advise on building and restauration.
The SKHN cooperates with:
- Rijksinstituut voor Archeologie, Cultuurlandschap en Monumenten (RACM)
- The Foundation for the preservation of Haybarrack and Barn in the Region of the rivers in the province of Gelderland (More)
- The Hudson Valley Vernacular Architecture Foundation (HVVA)
- The American site on Hay and Art www.hayinart.com
The SKHN has an extensive site on the internet: The Dutch museum of Haybarracks.
This site offers fotodatabases of the old thatched haybarracks in Holland and in other cuntries. There is a lot of information of building and restoring, with a lot of images. There is information on the history of the barrack and stack and the hayprocess. And what most visitors like the most: a lot of paintings and other art. Furthermore you can find pages about the haystack in America!
Webmaster is Wim LanphenThe SKHN strives to realize a real museum in the neighbourhood of Markelo. Markelo is a crossroad of different regionspecific haybarracks in a nice scenery. Jan ten Tije en Wim Lanphen are coordinating this project.
The SKHN has developed some haybarracktours for car and bike along old haybarracks in the two most interesting regions: Graafschap and Betuwe. Jan ten Tije coordinates Markelo , Arjin Vette the Betuwe. You find the tours in the menu Publikaties.
